Educational and Social Strategies
for
Children with Asperger’s Disorder

We will come to the School and Schools may send as many people that can fit in their space.

Who Should Attend

The workshop is intended for special and general education teachers, speech language professionals, related service professionals, and paraprofessionals working with children with Asperger's Disorder. School staff are encouraged to attend as a team.

Overview of Workshop Topics

Workshops will address the unique social, communicative, and learning characteristics of children with Asperger's Disorder. Participants will receive practical information and strategies for effectively serving children with Asperger's in school settings. The content of workshops include:

  • Overview of Asperger's Disorder
  • Social Development
  • Educational Strategies
  • Social Skills Instruction
  • Assessment and Treatment of Behavior Problems
  • Evaluation of Progress

  • Dr. Thomeer from Summit Educational Resources and Dr. Lopata from the University at Buffalo will combine lectures, discussion, and hands-on activities to teach key competencies for effectively meeting the academic, social and behavioral needs of children with Asperger's Disorder. The amount of information covered is dependent upon whether the workshop is for full day or half-day.

    Workshop Costs

    For a Full Day Workshop (up to 6.5 hours) the cost is $1,100.
    For a Half-Day Workshop (up to 3 hours) the cost is $600.
