Intern Positions and Application Process
 

Connections has several levels of paid internships for undergraduate and graduate students in the summer treatment program. These include:

Research-Clinicians

Research-Clinicians play a critical role in delivering treatment to children in the program. Responsibilities include facilitating intensive social skills groups, leading therapeutic activities, instituting a structured behavioral program, collecting data, and data entry. While these positions are typically held by graduate and undergraduate students from the disciplines of psychology, speech-language, and education, the positions are open to individuals from any major and/or background.

Research-Clinician Supervisors (Team Leaders)

Research-Clinician Supervisors are involved in both supervision of staff and delivery of treatment to children in the program. Responsibilities include supervising clinical teams, providing performance feedback, daily meetings with parents, and activity preparation and oversight, as well as conducting intensive social skills groups, leading therapeutic activities, instituting a structured behavioral program, collecting data, and data entry. Research-Clinician Supervisors are also responsible for monitoring treatment fidelity and data collection/management. These positions are held by graduate students from therapeutically-related fields such as psychology, school psychology, education, etc.

Research Coordinator(s)

Research Coordinators are primarily involved with studies being conducted during the program. These individuals are knowledgeable regarding the studies’ methodologies and data collection procedures. Responsibilities include monitoring treatment integrity, organizing data collection such as testing, surveys, and videotaping, scoring of protocols, parent meetings for research data, and meeting with the clinical teams and Program Directors. Research Coordinators are proficient in database use and have some knowledge of statistics/statistical programs (e.g., SPSS).

These positions are held by graduate students from therapeutically-related fields (e.g., psychology, school psychology, education, etc.), and who have completed graduate coursework in research methods, assessment/evaluation, and statistics.
